Warmup Round

I played my first blogger tourney last night, and although it was supposed to be the first round of the HUC, it didn't turn out that way.

Our group was the first to go, and unfortunately the tournament wasn't set up correctly as we ended up with the four of us at the same table. we decided to go ahead and play the tourney and then reschedule the HU part.

I was a little nervous playing bloggers as they are usually reasonably skillful. Turns out that I didn't have to worry as the deck took good care of me.

My first major confrontation was with Wes, aka. Boobie Lover. I had KK, put in a raise preflop, and Wes called. The flop came 9TQ, and Wes went all-in. I typed in chat, "Well, this could be a short game!", and it almost was.

Wes flipped over JT for an OESD and middle pair. I was ahead all the way as the turn filled in my straight with J. Wes had 4 outs on the river, and he didn't get hit. He was down to about 300 chips and mortally wounded. (that's foreshadowing, by the way)

The next interesting hand found me with a pair of 9s. Wes was acting before me and he went all-in. I made a big raise to isolate, and Surflexus also went all-in. My original raise had him covered.

Wes had 72o, the blogger hammer; no big surprise there. If you're going to go out, do it in style! It was basically a coin toss with Surflexus who had AJ. I think I hit another 9 to seal the deal, and suddenly the tourney that was supposed to be HU was HU.

The HU match with ingoal wasn't too exciting. I wasn't getting great hands, but I was hitting on just about every one of them. I think I took about 6 pots in a row, and ingoal was crippled. He shoved when I had a decent hand and I was victorious in the warmup match to the HU.

We tried to schedule the real HU match, but couldn't get it figured out that night. I'm sure we'll get it done some time soon.
